Michael Robinson

glass artist

Michael Robinson has found glass to be an appropriate medium to express the forms found in nature.

The underlying voice of glass is a voice that I endeavor to employ in my work.   The fluid motion of wind and water and the shapes of the creatures that inhabit those realms –because glass echoes nature; it is enduring but fragile."

Michael, who grew up in New Jersey, learned the glass trade from his father who worked as a neon light master in Newark, NJ, where Robinson was raised. Beginning as a scientific glassblower during college, Michael gradually advanced into ornaments and then more sculptural pieces. Glass became a second language to him from early in his life. He found it an effective medium to express forms found in nature. Robinson won Best of Show in 2012 at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery's Pure Florida juried show in Eau Gallie, FL. He has owned his own galleries both on the Jersey shore and in the Florida keys.
