About REED DIXON

Reed currently lives and works as a fine artist in Boynton Beach, FL. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, he studied graphic design and fine arts at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. In 1964 Reed was hired by Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO as an illustrator. He later moved back east to work in the advertising / design business. After spending years in the ad business (and always painting) Reed opened Dixon Graphics, a graphic design and fine arts studio in 1977.  

Throughout the years Reed’s art has been chosen to exhibit in the Society of Illustrators Show in New York City, and several pieces for the Communication Arts Illustration Annual and many more in the Philadelphia graphic / design annuals.

His art has been has been exhibited widely over the last 50 years and now can be found in several corporate and private collections.Reed is well known for his non-traditional style, color palette and unusual variety of subject matter. 

What I do…I call it imagery. By that I mean the end result is not necessarily a study of the subject, but how I feel the image should look in the end. I’ve always had the need to experiment with paints, mixed media applications, colors, textures and subject matter.  I’m never short on inspiration to capture what fascinates me.
