Artist Statement/Bio
Underwater photography has been my passion for the past 40 years. I have logged over 1500 dives all over the world including remote locations of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Raja Ampat and Komoto in Indonesia.
Underwater photography not only involves composition, lighting, camera settings, etc., but important diving skills like buoyancy control, proper breathing, diving in currents and low visibility. Also, a key factor in getting that “perfect” shot is to understand the creature/fish in their habitat and how they react to your presence.
My current camera is a Nikon D7000. I use this in a Subal housing with Inon Z240 strobes. My favorite underwater lenses are the Nikon 60mm macro and 17-70mm wide angle.
I have been published in the 2018 World Wildlife Fund calendar, Cambium Learning, Inc. (children’s book), Continental Airlines Pacific in-flight magazines, Vero Beach Magazine (Cover photo 2012), and won numerous awards in many area photo contests like A.E. Backus (Best in Show 2014, 1st Place Animals 2023), Pelican Island, and Vero Beach Museum of Art (Best in Show 2022).
