Lila Blakeslee was raised in Texas and a recipient of scholarships from the Dallas Museum of Art and other organizations, Lila graduated cum laude from the University of North Texas with a BFA in Drawing and Painting. Considered one of the premier equestrian artists, her paintings have been featured on the cover of the Chronicle of the Horse, the Winter Equestrian Festival program, and numerous polo club program covers around the country.
Lila's paintings have been collected by Olympic riders, polo professionals, and wonderful patrons around the world. She works in a variety of mediums, ranging from delicate pastels on paper to large colorful acrylic canvasses. Her artistic style and subject matter is diverse, ranging from the classical interpretation of the horse as a study of serene strength in motion to the horse as a mystically inspired creation of the gods. A lover of all animals and nature, Lila now includes vivid seascapes, with images of turtles and often sea glass, sand, and other tactile textures to add emphasis and depth to her bold, dramatic, and emotionally driven images.
