Viola Pace Knudsen
Gallery 14 proudly represents artist Viola Knudsen.
Viola Knudsen is a prolific artisan born in Missouri and raised amid the natural beauty of the rural Midwest. She has been drawn to the pre-Columbian art form of intricately coiled baskets which are collected by a bevy of fans, who can't seem to get enough of them. To create her award-winning woven baskets, she uses long southern pine needles and sometimes palm fronds. The baskets have evolved to include free-form sculptures, figurative pieces, animal forms, wall hangings, and smaller baskets containing clay pots, gourds, walnuts, and polished stone. Unusual pine needle sculptured light fixtures have been the pride of her latest mixed media evolution.
