Dorothy Napp Schindel: Artist / Owner
A long time theater director, scenic designer and museum educator, Dorothy, a graduate of Columbia University, studied at the School of Visual Arts, Cooper Union and the renowned Brooklyn Museum of Art School. Her mixed media collages combine elements of her own photography, art papers, paints and in some instances found images and antique photos. The pieces, which sometimes contain personal, political or historical statements, are often framed with hand-made wooden structures designed and built by her husband Steve. Her collage awards include the honor of having 'River of Hope' chosen to be in Housatonic River Reflections, an exhibit at The Norman Rockwell Museum in Massachusetts and being awarded First Place for 'Unholy Visions' in an exhibit sponsored by Unifem - United Nations Development Fund for Women.
